Awards Night 2022
Awards Night is where we are privileged to gather and acknowledge the achievements of our students over the past academic year. This year we were delighted to be able to gather once more as a school community to bestow the honours upon their worthy recipients during a fabulous night of music, song and performance at The Watergate Theatre.
The McFadden Medal
This year's worthy winner of our most prestigious award is Paddy Collins. Paddy is a young man with a voracious appetite to succeed in all aspects of his life. He has applied himself to all of his curricular and extra-curricular endeavours with an unflinching diligence, dedication and good nature over his six years in the school and is a worthy winner of The McFadden Medal 2022.
The Catriona O'Brien Social Justice Award
Mahmoud Yousif is a young man who is a role model for all others through his courage and determination. He has shown great leadership, academic performance and service of others in the past year. He has made a tangible, positive impact on the school community promoting equaity and inclusion. He has the ability to inspire, promote and sustain the awareness of social justice both within our school and the wider community. CBS Kilkenny, wishes Mahmoud all the best for his future and we have no doubt he will continue to demonstrate compassion, courage and leadership in fostering human dignity in the years to come. |
The Parents Council Spirit of Edmund Rice Award
This award was presented to Brendan Walsh, a student who has demonstrated a commitment and determination to live by the values of Blessed Edmund Rice.
Brendan demonstrated a willingness to extend himself to help other members of the school community, always gave most freely of his time, is unselfish, reliable, helpful of others and has had a considerable, positive impact on the lives of others. Brendan has shown exceptional integrity and leadership during his time in our school and is a true gentleman. |
The Colm Dunne Memorial Award
This award is presented in memory of Colm Dunne, a young man who was larger than life with a great hunger for knowledge. His inspirational character contributed significantly to CBS Kilkenny. Colm overcame many challenges in his short life and did so with great dignity and nobility. This for us is his defining legacy. All those who crossed his path are the richer for having known him.
This year's recipient of The Colm Dunne Memorial Award is Billy O'Keefe Billy is a student, who has excelled in all aspects of school life. He is a role model for other students and emulates the spirit, determination and desire to achieve of the late Colm Dunne whose love for life was extraordinary. We greatly look forward benefitting from Billy's considerable contribution to our school and celebrating his future achievements in the years to come. |
