All TY 1 + 2 will do their Aptitude Tests all day next Wednesday. Thursday 23rd All TY, 6th and 6th year students will be attending a careers exhibition in the gym starting at 6.15pm. The part 2 or the drumming workshop will take place on 21st November in the music room. All the TY groups enjoyed the workshop so much the last time that Thomas Duffy was called back in to do another one. This will be a team building exercise used to strengthen the connection within the TY classes. The class will be split into three different parts, each playing a different type of drum. Each group will have a different role and alternative beat to learn. Once the beat was learned, all the groups joined together to make what turned out to be a very smooth rhythm.
We were given the background of Afro-Brazilian drumming and carnivals. And we each got the chance to play different kinds of drums. At the end of the year 20-25 students will participate in a TY drumming orchestra on the night of the Awards Ceremony. We would like to thank Thomas Duffy for coming in and introducing us to Brazilian drums. All students enjoyed this experience immensely. Schedule Period 1-2 TY4 Period 3-4 TY3 Period 5-6 TY2 Period 8-9 TY1 Name: Tomas Dunne
Age: 16 Position: Midfield What club do you play for? Tullaroan Who’s your idol? Stevie Maher Who’s your favourite hurler to hurl with from CBS? Ben Tyrrell How do you feel the junior hurling team is after coming on since the start of the year? At the start of the year when the lads all first met up and had their first training session together, they weren't hurling too well together as they hadn't played together yet. There was lots of room for improvement. Within weeks of training, the team started to gel. The team was a much stronger unit. Do you have any advice to give to the younger lads coming up? I can recognise the talent coming up from the years below from their matches and successes. Fortunately, there's a continuity of skill in CBS. My advice to the lads is to get great encouragement and coaching from teachers. Train hard in school and with your clubs, listen to all the teachers and coaches, it’ll all pay off. Irish orals for 4th years will take place on monday december 4th.The poems that will be examined are Géibheann and Colscaradh. The sraith pictiúr are Buntáistí Morá na hIdirbhliana and cuairt ar aintín i Nua Eabhrac.
Géibheann Ainmhí me Ainmí allta As na teochreasa A bhfuil clú agus cáil Ar mo scéimh Chroithfinn crainnte na coille Tráith Le mo gháir Ach anois Luím síos Agus breathnaím trí leathshúil Ar an gcrann aonrac sin thall Tagann na céadta daoine Chuile lá A dhéanfadh rud ar bith Dom Ach mé a ligean amach Colscaradh Shantaigh sé bean I nead a chine Faoiseamh is gean Ar leac a thine Aiteas is greann I dtógáil chlainne Shantaigh sí fear Is taobh den bhriste Dídean is searc Is leath den chíste Saoire thar lear Is meas na mílte Thángthas ar réiteach Scaradar. DEBATING: Great win for CBS against De La Salle Waterford. “For women to access leadership positions, gender quotas must be implemented. Well done to Conor, Colm and Mate who competed alongside the fifth years. And we wish the team the best of luck in the next round.
Magnificent voices of combined choirs of Kieran’s College Loreto Kilkenny & CBS Kilkenny under baton of Muireann Ryan McDonagh for Kilkenny Famine Experience launch. This was a great success to all schools who took part and we hope that the audience enjoyed it.
