CBS Students win several Kilkenny Enterprise Awards
On Wed 2 May 2018, CBS Kilkenny's reputation for excellence in enterprise was recognised nationally at the national Student Enterprise Awards Ceremony in Croke Park, where the school collected two major awards. Matthew O'Sullivan, John O'Brien and Edward Daly were awarded First Place in the intermediate competition with their project Lift Arm Assist. It is a huge achievement for the boys who completed their project as their second year Classroom Based Assessment (CBA) for the new Junior Cycle Framework. Huge congratulations to their teacher, Mr Downey.
A Special Merit Award in the senior category was presented to TY student Conor McCarthy for his project Kat Food. He accepted it on behalf of himself and his very close friend Colm Dunne who also worked tirelessly on the project, but who sadly passed away on April 23 2018 (RIP). Congratulations to their teacher, Anna Colleton, who mentored the boys over the last six months.

On Wednesday 7th of March, Conor McCarthy and Colm Dunne won the overall County Enterprise Competition in the Senior category. The boys won this award for their creation of a GAA Cookbook called “KAT FOOD”. They will now proceed to represent CBS Kilkenny in the Senior category of the National Enterprise competition in Croke Park on the 2nd of May. We are very proud of their success. Conor and Colm would like to thank both their parents and the staff members involved, Ms.Colleton and Deirdre Prendiville, who helped these young men to achieve this very prestigious award. Continued success to these young gentlemen.
On the same occasion, Mike Murphy and Josh Delahunty received the award for the Most Innovative Project for their wood resin based jewellery and their business name is Shard.
