2017 Maths Week Winners
On the week starting Mon 16 Oct 2017, Maths Week will take place across the country.
Here in CBS, we have a busy lineup.

Maths Week in CBS Kilkenny 2016 - 2017
Big congratulations to all of our Maths Week winners. They were presented with their prizes by Principal Tom Clarke on Friday October 29 2016. There was great participation and lots of fun in the wide range of activities which were held over the course of the week. Many thanks to Mr Moran and all of the Maths teachers for their work in making the week a great success.
Maths Week for 2016 - 2017 runs from Mon October 17 until Fri October 21 2016. The Maths Dept of CBS Kilkenny has a wide variety of interesting maths-related activities for students to enjoy. These include: "60 sums in 60 seconds" challenges, short story competitions, puzzles, problem-solving competitions, online quizzes and quick quizzes.
As is traditional, prizes will be generous!

Events for Maths Week 2016 - 2017
1. Noticeboards will be full of interesting maths facts and quotes for the week. Students should check these out.
2. First years: will have a '60 problems in 60 seconds league' all week. The problems will be given at the end of each class for a couple of minutes.
3. Problem solving class: 2nd/3rd and 5th/6th years will drop everything and take a multiple choice maths quiz. They will work in twos or threes. A leaderboard will be done up for the best pair in each class.
4. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday there will be a "Maths problems from the Movies" quiz.
5. There will be an online quiz run by Mr. Cleere.
6. There will be a Junior and Senior short story competition run over the course of the week. Participating students must write a 100 word essay with maths as a theme or subtheme. Entries by email to d.maguire@cbskilkenny.ie and a.moran@cbskilkenny.ie before 4pm Thurs.20th.
