Mr. Clarke thanked the Parents council for their support of CBS. His report is broken down into four
headings.

Chairperson's Address
- Vivienne welcomed all present to the Parents Council AGM held via zoom.
- 2020 /2021 was an extremely quiet year by CBS Kilkenny standards .The Parents Council were disappointed not to be able
- For the full 2020 /2021, school year and 2021 / 2022 to date all meetings have been on Zoom, which is working quiet successfully. The PC committee is quietnestablished with most members being members pre- Covid. The challenge now is to encourage parents of students who have joined since Covid 19.
- Collaboration with Careers Guidance Department to hold a virtual careers event in the school.
- Update the PC Section of the School website.

Principal’s Report
Mr. Clarke thanked the Parents council for their support of CBS. His report is broken down into four
headings.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning:
- (9+2 part-time) new staff, 10 PME students, 1 retirement, 3 resignations, 2 parental leave.
- Increased allocation of SNA provision by one full post.
- LC2021 strong results - Calculated Grades process. A very large number of students were offered their first CAO choice.
- Approx. 50% uptake for LC2021 written exams
- Introduction of New Technology:
- Recorded ZOOM for First Year Parents Night and 6th Year CAO presentation
- PTM format for 20/21 was via detailed VS ware reports.
- Plan for 2021 /2022 to conduct PTM on line using google classroom.
- A number of student devices were issued in Jan 2020.
- Online learning during second lockdown .More structured, everyone was better prepared.
- Very large proportion of online live classes.
- Improvements planned with regard to Overload and Supporting Student Wellbeing. Actions taken in these areas: Communication to teachers, “break from remote schooling”, “homework free days”.
2. Managing the Organisation:
- Significant work carried out throughout summer 2020
- New accommodation on James’s St with many structural changes in the school.
- Enhanced cleaning schedule & Covid-supervision, significant DES financial support
- Staggered breaks and lunch times
- Covid training completed by all staff, online and from local GP
- Covid training rolled out across the school for all students
- Covid Plan on website, with agreed procedures in the event of Covid symptoms/case.
- LC Graduation Mass and small Awards Ceremony - held online
- Ten policies reviewed by PC over the year
- Largest group ever for TY
- Staff IT provided with devices and CPD roll out
- Weekly Updates from principal to school community during lockdowns
- VSware Absence Request system now operational.
- Incoming first Year Meeting online.
3. Leading School Development:
- New look website, new PRO p.boyle@cbskilkenny.ie
- New School Design process: Planning decision is with An Bord Pleanala
- ERST global online meeting of almost 300 schools from five continents celebrating Feast Day of
- Blessed Edmund Rice in May and celebrating 25th anniversary of beatification in Oct.
- Virtual Open Evening went ahead with a number of informational videos.
- New TY accommodation open.
4. Leadership Capacity:
- Two new APII appointments.
- A number of staff engaging in training with regard to the LCPE and LC Comp Science subjects
- Significant whole staff training completed In-house CPD provided for new devices
- Student Council elections have concluded.
- Consultation with students’ with regard to new school jacket.
- 6th Year Student survey to ascertain student perception of the provision of leadership opportunities
- Student Leadership initiative in association with ERST has started very well.
- CBS Kilkenny has been awarded the Diplomatic Passport (Silver Passport) Award from GCE Group.
- Very successful Careers Week involving PC and 30 former students.
- New formal post of responsibility to empower Student Voice and develop Student Leadership Opportunities across all years in CBS Kilkenny.

Following discussion, the committee plan to have the Parent Council AGM Tuesday 9 November via Zoom. No decision made as to a guest speaker or topic, the committee would welcome any ideas or suggestions that parents or guardians would be interested in.
Election of officers for 2021 /2022 shall also be made at the AGM. Currently the position of secretary is vacant.
Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of the Month.
Next meeting to take place on Tuesday 9 November 2021 at 730pm.

Principal’s Report
Ms. Maguire updated the Parents Council on a very wide range of issues, which include:
- Students well settled into new school year.
- Midterm exams for 2nd and 5th Year.
- CAO Information webinar last week to 6th Year parents and guardians. Well received.
- Deputy Principal Retirement on Jan 5 2022. Recruitment process underway.
- Policy development has taken place. 13 in total to ratify this academic year.
- Sixth Year PTM (online) Oct 21.
- Open Night Webinar Oct 13.
Teacher’s Report
Ms Marie Meagher outlined a variety of school activities, which include:
- Several transition Year activities.
- Musical, Footloose in collaboration with Loreto Kilkenny.
- Basketball, Hurling, Soccer.
- Many new clubs in the school this year including a Geography & History club.
- Initiatives for Literacy and Maths week.
- Participation in Feachtas Tráth na gCeist, coagulations to the 1ST& 3th Year teams who did really well and to the 6th year team who will progress to the All-Ireland Final in March.

Vivienne welcomed all present to the Parents Council meeting held via Zoom.
Principal’s Report
Mr Clarke updated the Parents Council on a very wide range of issues, which include:
- Strong Leaving Cert results from the Class of 2021.
- 160 new First Year students this year.
- New staff: 13 teachers across all disciplines, 5 PME students.
- Covid regulations still very much in place. Social distancing, masks, ventilation, hygiene, CO2 monitors. Generally, very good compliance and good habits formed over past 18 months.
- Two breaks (as per last year), three lunches (two last year). Working well.
- Enhanced cleaning in operation daily.
- Looking at online Parent Teacher Meeting structure for this year.
- New IT room in Maltings building, working well. Almost exclusively for TY and LCCS (exam).
- Further IT room under development.
- New school planning granted. Appeal to An Bord Pleanala.
- Daily fresh roll & cool water supply from Supervalu, going well, taps at the school not operational due to Covid.
Ms Maguire praised the student body for their compliance in following the Covid-19 guidelines.
