Dear Mr. Downey,
My name is Róisín Hogan. I am an Educational Psychologist in training from Mary Immaculate College. I recently spoke to you on the phone about the research project I am undertaking as part of my training and you kindly agreed to share a link to the questionnaire on your school’s website/Facebook page. I thank you again for agreeing to share the link to the questionnaire.
As discussed on the phone, I am investigating the intensity of mobile phone and social networking site use among adolescents and relates to their developing sense of identity. The study involves parents of students aged 16-18 clicking the link to the questionnaire, completing some questions, giving their consent for their child to participate and passing the questionnaire over to their child for them to complete the remaining questions. Please find the link to the questionnaire below:
https://forms.gle/HznTY6vLVzQKwoHA9
I would greatly appreciate if you could copy and paste the above link and post it to either your school’s website or Facebook page.
I am also asking schools if they would be willing to contact parents of students in 5th and 6th year (because participants must be aged 16-18) via text or email to alert them to the presence of the questionnaire on your website, if possible. Without this, parents may not see the link to the survey. Making parents aware of the questionnaire by contacting them via text or email would greatly increase participation. Please see a possible template of a text message below:
“Dear parent(s)/guardian(s),
If your child is aged between 16-18, please click the link posted on our school’s website under the heading 'Research on Social Networking Site Use' and complete the questionnaire.
Best wishes,
_________________”.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you experience any technical difficulties in sharing this link or require any further information. Once again, I am extremely grateful for your assistance with my research.
Best wishes,
Róisín Hogan.
